Egyptian Hieroglyphics

Egyptian Hieroglyphics... earliest form of writing in Egypt!

Egyptian Hieroglyphics... earliest form of writing in Egypt!

What's Hieroglyphics?
As we all knew, English has 26 characters (called letters) that are made up into words and then into sentences. Ancient Egyptians had more than 2,000 characters, which they called hieroglyphics. Egyptian Hieroglyphics which are common object like - a reed, an eagle, a basket, water, etc. that represents a letter of their alphabet.

Hieroglyphics were the earliest form of writing in Egypt and were basically only used in formal settings. Hieratic was the script used for day-to-day writing.

How to Write With Hieroglyphics?
Hieroglyphics were written in rows or columns without spaces and can be read from left to right or from right to left and that the symbols (human and animals) always face towards the beginning of the line so you know which direction to start reading. Besides changing direction, hieroglyphics rarely used vowels, although they were spoken. In English, words are often abbreviated by leaving out the vowels - bldg = building, ltd = limited and cm = centimeter but in case of hieroglyphics the only time it use vowels is when a word begins with one or if it might be confusing without them.

Where Were Hieroglyphics Used?
We can see hieroglyphics on ancient tombs, pyramid walls, pottery and ceramics. Scribes also used hieroglyphics on papyrus to record the history of Egypt. As a fact, Hieroglyphics were extremely hard to learn. Only scribes learned to write them and they trained for years, starting school when they were boys and because Girls were not allowed to go to school so they couldn't become scribes. Scribes were special royal servants. They didn't have to go into the military or pay taxes and were also well-respected and had their pictures painted on the walls of houses and monuments.

The Rosetta Stone Uncovered...
Hieroglyphics were a mystery until the Rosetta Stone was uncovered. The three foot tall and two foot wide stone was discovered near the Rosetta mouth of the Nile in 1799. Three different types of script are written on the stone: hieroglyphics, Egyptian Demontic and Greek which took many years for the stone to be properly deciphered with several linguist scholars working on the task including French-born Sylvestre de Sacy, Englishman Thomas Young and French scholar, Jean Francios Champollion who himself finally pieced everything together in 1822. When the British defeated the French in the Battle of the Nile, they claimed the Rosetta Stone and sent it to the British Museum where it still remains today.

Caught In Padmavyuham

Caught in Padmavyuham

 Caught in Padmavyuham

Congress MP s from Telangana region are going to meet at KK's residence in Delhi today to discuss their future course of action in the wake of the alleged remarks made against them TRS leader K Chandrashekara Rao. What exactly MP s from Telangana region are going to discuss in the meeting? Will that really help them defend from the word stones pelted by KCR at least in future? A report!

When the Centre was unable to spell out its decision on Telangana by the said deadline (which was January 28), the man who claimed himself to be a steering of statehood movement in Andhra Pradesh, Mr K Chandrashekara Rao plunged into the action. While he took on the big wigs of Congress, he didn't spare the leaders from this region and said they should come out of party.

After hearing these words from KCR, MP s seemed to have got biggest shock of life. While they have been apparently struggling to getting noticed that they are major persons behind convincing Centre on Telangana, KCR almost spoiled their image in the public. The damage to MP s was almost clearly visible. How would they repair the damage done to them? Will coming out of Congress party is the only option available before them or convincing Congress to come out with a decision within a week a better solution to the same? While the former step might convince those criticizing Congress leaders, it might tarnish their political mileage without any doubt and second step would almost be next to impossible, opined observers as they felt that over half-a-dozen MP s might not convince Centre to jump to a decision overnight.

So, it looks like MP s from Telangana region are more or less caught in a padmavyuham. How would they come out of this first and protect themselves—in terms of their image and political mileage seems to be the content of today's meeting.

Akbaruddin Owaisis Hate Speech Case

Akbaruddin Owaisi's hate speech case: A detailed report

Akbaruddin Owaisi's hate speech case: A detailed report

MIM legislator Akbaruddin has been finally taken into the custody by Nirmal police after so much of tension and drama. He was shifted to the same jurisdiction (Nirmal of Adilabad district) where Akbaruddin allegedly gave inflammatory speech targeting and insulting beliefs of a particular class. As Akbaruddin's vehicle moved along with the police towards Nirmal, a few activists of MIM followed the vehicle. Why they were following the vehicle and how long would they follow the convoy were the questions that were being discussed at many chai shops and country snack stalls in the city this evening when the news broke out that Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested.

What happened to Akbaruddin and why was he arrested?
MIM party directly took on chief minister Kiran Kumar when it withdrew from Congress government reportedly over old city temple row. The party members then said they would tour state and put Congress at shame. Reportedly as a part of the same, Akbaruddin was touring several places of the state and on December 22nd night, he gave a speech for over one-and-half-hour. Scores of people were present over there (reportedly included minors too). He gave hate speech that was recorded and kept on You Tube. Akbaruddin allegedly questioned the beliefs of certain class and even questioned the government besides terming terrorist Kasab as wo bachcha.

Media plunges into action:
The hate speech videos caught the attention of the media and it swiftly plunged into the action. The national television channels organized wide range live debates and questioned the Andhra Pradesh chief minister, home minister and DGP as to why no action was taken against Akbaruddin. DGP Dinesh Reddy next day told the media that since Akbaruddin was a legislator they took the legal opinion due to which the inquiry got delayed.

Cases:
In total, over half-a-dozen criminal cases were filed against Akbaruddin Owaisi for the hate speech. Out of all the cases, the main one that caught national media's attention was the case filed by one Shabnam, a social activist. Her case against Akbaruddin was registered under IPC Sec 153 A (promoting enmity between people on the grounds of religion).

A petition was also filed in Nampally Court by an advocate. The court took the cognizance of the petition and directed city police to file case against him. Accordingly, police booked Akbaruddin under Sec 153 A of IPC at Osmania University campus police station.

There were several other cases filed at several police stations. But this particular case, wherein Akbaruddin was arrested, was filed by Nirmal police (the jurisdiction where Akbaruddin gave hate speech). Nirmal police, a couple of days back, tried to take Akbaruddin into the custody but he was not available. Later, the police stuck notices to walls of Akbaruddin's residence. Meanwhile, MIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi has said that Akbaruddin didn't abscond and stressed that he would come back.

Accordingly, Akbaruddin Owaisi returned to Hyderabad on January 7th morning. He, immediately, sent two of his advocates to Nirmal on his behalf, as he received summons. Akbar's counsels pleaded the police that Akbaruddin would need another four days' time to appear before the police in person since e was not keeping well.

The same day, Akbaruddin moved a petition in Andhra Pradesh High Court praying that the court should be directing Nirmal police not to arrest him besides appealing for quashing the cases filed against him. This move of Akbaruddin apparently suspected the police that Akbaruddin might have intentions for resisting arrest.

Today, in the early hours Nirmal police arrived at Akbaruddin's residence and served summons on him asking him to attend medical tests to prove his point that he was really not well. Accordingly, Akbaruddin arrived at Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad at around 11 am and underwent 11 tests for more than two hours. Later, Akbaruddin said he would leave for home but police detained him stating that he would not be allowed to move out until medical reports come.

Finally, the medical reports came and they apparently stated that Akbaruddin was not facing new medical complications. This reportedly gave enough evidence to Nirmal police that they can take Akbaruddin Owaisi into their custody. Eventually, Akbaruddin was arrested and shifted to Nirmal police station.

Akbaruddin Owaisi arrested

Cases under which he was booked:
Akbaruddin Owaisi was booked under two major cases:
  • IPC Section 153 A-Promoting enmity between two groups (based on religion)
  • IPC Section 121-Waging war or attempting to waging war or abetting to waging war against Government of India

Punishment:
If a person booked under IPC Section 153 A is found guilty of the offence, he/she would be punished with imprisonment up to three years to which fine may be added to.

If a person booked under IPC Section 121 is found guilty of the offense, he/she would either face death penalty or life imprisonment.

In the wake of Akbaruddin's arrest, tight security has been beefed up in and around Hyderabad besides Nirmal. CrPC Section 144 has been imposed in Nirmal. As said by chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and central minister Chiranjeevi that the law will take its due course of action, today Akbaruddin Owaisi was arrested.

Arguments between Akbar, police

 Arguments between Akbar, police

Arguments are taking place between MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi and state police at Gandhi hospital. Now that 11 medical tests are over, Akbaruddin wants to go to home. As we was reportedly ready to leave for home, the police apparently said that he would not be permitted to leave for home until and unless medical reports are out. So far, the sources said that eight medical reports are out. In all, Akbaruddin's health was said to be okay.

It has to be mentioned here that Akbaruddin is almost in the condition of police arrest as he's not being allowed to leave the hospital. So, once the reports of all medical tests will be out and if those tests reveal that Akbaruddin's health is okay then it's most likely that he would be taken into the custody and produced before the Nampally Criminal Court. Akbaruddin gave inflammatory speeches against a particular group and insulted the Gods of that groups, which was nothing but promotion of enmity between different groups based on religions, said observers. Anyway, special police have been deployed in several sensitive areas of Hyderabad to ensure that no disturbances take place if Akbaruddin is arrested.

 Akbaruddin Owaisi arrested

MIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi has been arrested today at Gandhi hospital by Nirmal police after the medical reports (given by doctors) stated that he was medically fit to be taken into the custody. He is likely to be shifted to Nirmal.  Today, a team of 15 special doctors headed by a cardiologist conducted nearly a dozen tests on Mr Owaisi after the police directed the doctors to conduct tests and Akbaruddin Owaisi to undergo tests. These tests were conducted only to give required permission for the police to arrest Akbaruddin Owaisi in connection with the inflammatory speech he gave in Nirmal of Nizamabad district and the subsequent police cases filed against him.

It may be noted that Nirmal police had been trying their best to arrest Akbaruddin for further interrogation as to what made him give hate speech. In the wake of Akbaruddin's arrest, high alert was declared in Hyderabad especially in the old city. However, police were deployed in large numbers to ensure that chaos don't take place in the city. MIM supremo Asaduddin was not available to the media for comments.

Owaisi Hate Speech

Owaisi hate speech: Time for Cong&YSRC to give explanation

Owaisi hate speech: Time for Cong&YSRC to give explanation

MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi's statements are continuing to create uproar across the country for the statements (which were recorded) during his speech in Nirmal of Nizamabad district tend to attack the law and order of the country besides promoting enmity between two groups that live together like brothers. The Congress now has plunged in after so much uproar in the country. Chief minister Kiran Kumar said law of land would take its course of action. Some other Congress leaders lashed out at Akbaruddin Owaisi.

MIM supremo Mr Asaduddin Owaisi denied to comment more on the matter except stating that honorable court would decide the matter. He, however, didn't mention that those statements were the personal remarks of Asaduddin Owaisi and MIM had nothing to do with it. Can it be taken for granted that MIM support the statements made by its legislator and brother of the party supremo Akbaruddin Owaisi, questioned observers.

Secondly, the observers have also said that Congress party in the state and YSRC should give explanation to the public of not just state but the entire country since MIM was an ally of Congress until a few weeks while YSRC reportedly had cordial relations with MIM. Anyway, the observers said that now at least MIM supremo should condemn the statements of Akbaruddin Owaisi and take action against him failing which both Congress and YSRC will be in news for wrong reasons.
