Student beaten to death in South Delhi
An 18-year-old college going student Nido Taniam from Arunachal Pradesh
was beaten to death by a group of men in the crowded commercial
locality of Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi. The victim is identified as
Nido Taniam, who on Wednesday went out with three of his friends. At
Lajpat Nagar, Nido along with friends were looking for an address. A
group of men were alleged to be making fun of his hair style.
As the
incident got serious, Nido broke the glass of the shop and around seven
to eight men rushed to Nido and attacked him. The group hit Nido with
sticks, iron rods and have hurt him very severely. The next day morning
Nido was found dead in his room in Green Park Extension and the family
accused he died of his injuries.
Nido is
son of an Arunchal Pradesh MLA and this incident came a like and again
the Delhi Police were hit by a controversy as the allegations against
come in this case of taking bribe and settling the case for Rupees
10,000. So far the police have detained only one person from the sweet
shop and the The Northeast community has decided to hold a protest march
on Saturday in front of the sweet shop.
Union
Minority Affairs minister Ninong Ering, who also hails from Arunachal
Pradesh, has expressed shock over the racist incident. Ninong demanded
for a thorough probe and punishment of the accused.
