A diamond studded crown worth 1
crore 80 lakhs of Rupees was presented to Tirupati Balaji by a Chennai
devotee, as per the announcement made by Tirumal Tirupati Devastanams
management.
It has been a tradition to donate
some thing of the earnings in the name of God which is inculcated by our
ancestors describing it as a Dharma Karya, a devotional deed. As the
temples were treated as the safest of places and a proper use of the
money is expected from the accumulation of the wealth of a temple, it
was prescribed and has been followed from ages to offer some thing to
God.
Whatever is offered to God is
nothing, in spite of its exchange value, as God is considered as the
real owner of everything in the creation. That is why an offer is made
only in the name of God but not to God. This statement
makes one not to become proud of his rich offering if made any. It is
made customary to offer voluntarily to contribute for the poor and
unfortunate who are not lucky enough to have a means to earn.
Some times an incident makes our
mind search for similar incidents and the search result may makes us
feel not very happy. Presenting a diamond studded crown to Lord
Venkateswara of Tirupati by Gali Janardan Reddy comes up on the top of
the search as it followed by the CBI raids, arrests and disclosure of
many a financial crimes committed by him. As it is an automatic process
of the mind it cannot be helped but an offering is a good act in the
interest of the society as a whole.
